Our Artistic Director and XPDC History
Angelita Pollard is a Senior, Business Management and Entrepreneurship student with a 3.4 GPA at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. She was born and raised in PG County, Maryland and attended Bishop McNamara High School. While at BMHS, she was a member of the Bishop McNamara Dance Team all 4 years and served as captain her senior year. Post graduation, Angelita participated in the University of Maryland’s Dance Team for her Freshman and Sophomore year.
At the age of 14, Angelita founded Xtra Productions Dance Company (XPDC). From that point on, she has had the opportunity to teach a variety students, under the XPDC brand, through multiple competitions, community performances and annual productions. She aims to arm her students with the knowledge of dance, and self-confidence while creating a family oriented environment. In 2016, Angelita fell in love with event planning and community development. She then founded Xtend N See, a community outreach program that devotes time and resources to a variety of charities in the metropolitan area. In the summer of 2017, Angelita auditioned and became a finalist for the Washington Wizard girls. After a tough journey and not getting the outcome she expected, she decided to remain positive and find the beauty in a tough situation. She began to continue XPDC full time during the school year, and under the Xtend N See brand, she began to teach in the school system. Angelita spent a semester as a volunteer dance teacher at College Park Academy. However after an amazing semester, she was recruited as the Dance Team Coach of College Park Academy and led the largest populated afterschool program in the school. She has taught and choreographed for multiple institutions including Bishop McNamara High School Dance Team, Sankofa Dance Company, Afromoda Dance Company, UMD Star Strutters, and a variety of vocal artist, and pageant contestants. She now remains the Dance Team Coach of Bishop McNamara High School. In the future Angelita hopes to found a child protégé facility that trains and fosters the talent of students that have an interest in the arts. She hopes to teach students the importance of being a “triple threat”; being talented, being humble and being academically excellent.
